So much for blogging, I have failed horribly at keeping up with this. Partially because I am far too busy with the myriad of things I have chosen to fill my every day life with. Partially because I have never found myself to be a strong writer. I gave it a shot and I have decided its time to move on.

But - I still want to make this blog thing work somehow so I have a great new idea. It's one of those, "uh DUH, why didn't I think of that before!" ideas. Seriously. I may be busy but I always find time to take photos.

Whenever you see me out and about I probably have a camera in my hand and another wrapped around my neck. I am also considering purchasing a DSLR camera. It is about time, seeing that I have to take detailed photo shots for jadewink and I am designated videographer/photographer of into the storm. My little Sony H10 isn't exactly cutting it anymore.

To top it off, I always love photo blogs the best! Pictures say so much more about me and what I am thinking than my words can ever express. So why not do a photo blog myself! Here are some photo blogs I love...simple and AWESOME.

My jadewink partner in crime and dearest mother Lana is an amazing teacher and writer. She has been sharing her gifts as a consultant for Quality Sewing for quite some time. However, recently she started divvying up her profound knowledge to share with the internet world as the new Seattle Sewing Examiner.

She has already busted out about ten articles brimming with delicious sewing tidbits. Edmonds Arts Festival

Starting Friday and through this weekend I will be volunteering at the Edmonds Arts Festival! I will be shadowing some of the directors, filling in at booths and basically seeing how it all works. I went down today to get a feel for the festival layout as I have never been there before. One of the directors showed me around and explained all the areas of the festival. The food and art vendors were setting up their booths in the field area next to Frances Anderson Cultural center. Other volunteers were tending to last minute details inside the building and more were setting up the plaza for an Indian-themed kickoff soiree tonight. This festival is sure to be great, it was even voted best street fair in Western Washington by Evening Magazine this year!

finding passion

I have been searching for my life's passion for a very long time. I have tried many things in my short life and I am still lost. I have made strides recently though, stepping out of my comfort zone of desk jobs and steady pay, into the messy and fast paced world of food service. Like I said a few months ago, I quit my desk job when I relocated because I was so sick of that lifestyle that I needed a significant change. I was voluntarily unemployed for 2 months so I could take a well deserved break and then for the past month I have been working at a new movie theater/restaurant in my area, as first a bartender, and now I work in the kitchen at Expo. Since my gluten allergy discovery nearly a year ago I realized how much I like cooking and I have always wanted to own a restaurant. I am also considering going back to school to be a chef. So I thought working in a restaurant would be a perfect way to get the foundation of that dream started.

Now, I do like this job much better than my previous desk jobs. Moving and standing is so much better for me than sitting and gooing at a desk all day. But working nights is very hard on the body, I am tired more often because I exert more energy at work. It's also hard on relationships, my love works during the day so we almost never see each other anymore and our days off never line up. Lastly, the pay is meager in comparison to say the least. So here I sit mid-day, blogging and thinking. Waiting for work to start at 5pm. Still pondering where to go from here and what I should do with my life. What does it say about me that I am already considering going back to a business administration desk job? My lifestyle would again be more comfortable, I might be able to buy a house sooner if I had a job like that (another dream of mine) and I could again eat dinners with my love. Oh dear.

And now the journey begins! I daresay I am writing to myself at this point but I hope that my ramblings bring a bevy of followers in the not too distant future. Although I am not new to the realm of computers or the internet in general, I am relatively new to the expansive world of blogging and running a business online. But I am also doing this whole thing rather backwards. You see, I already quit my day job! Well it was for a different reason, but now more than ever I want to be a part of something I built and something I am proud of. This month marks the beginning of a rebirth for my mom and I. We are both hitting the reset button in our lives and turning our paths towards entrepreneurship and doing things that make us happy.

Therefore, the theme for this blogs beginning is the phoenix. “A phoenix is a mythical bird with a tail of beautiful gold and red plumage. It lives 500 to 1,000 years. Then, near the end of its life, it builds itself a nest of myrrh twigs that it then ignites; both nest and bird burn fiercely and are reduced to ashes, from which a new, young phoenix arises, reborn anew to live again.
